WAPA club, an academic club of the Faculty of Accounting and Auditing, University of Economics and Law, was established in 2004. For 10 years of establishing and developing, WAPA has contributed considerably to the growth of students of Faculty of Accounting and Auditing. Currently, WAPA club is holding a city-level academic contest called “WAPA&ACCA CHALLENGING II, 2014”, from October 11 to November 2, 2014 with the participation of many Southern universities: University of Economics and Law, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, Banking University Ho Chi Minh City, Van Lang University, Open University, Foreign Trade University, RMIT University.
The club has received not only support from staffs of Faculty of Accounting and Auditing but also sponsorships from many businesses and organizations, named as below:
- The platinum sponsor: ACCA Vietnam– 50 millions VND
- The silver sponsor: Ernst &Young Vietnam (E&Y) – 25 millions VND
- The bronze sponsor: Smart Train Center– many scholarships which cover partial tuition fee
The process of the competition:
Competitors will take part in 3 different rounds, from October 11 to November 2nd, 2014.
The final round will take place from 8 to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 2nd, 2014. It includes 6 main sections, plus a pre-organized part, a widen part and a part for audience. Following are brief information of each section:
1. Part 1: “Interview” (expected time: 10 minutes)
There are 3 packages of 10 questions needed to be answered respectively by 3 teams. All questions must be answered from the first person, 10 points for a right answer, the first person can pass the unsolved questions for his teammate if he does not know the answer. The maximum time for each team to answer all the questions is 1 min 30 seconds
2. Part 2: “Internship” (expected time: 10 minutes)
A hidden object in puzzle picture will be divided by 6 pieces and 3 teams have to guess the key word from this picture.
To open one piece, each team must answer one question, 20 points for a right answer. If one team is wrong, others can answer.
Any team that finds out the key word before 2 pieces will get 50 points, before 4 pieces will get 40 points and the rest is 30 points.
If the picture is totally shown but no team has the answer, MC will give a hint for them. This time, 20 points will be given for the right answer.
3. Part 3: “Talented employee” (expected time: 20 minutes)
Goal: By acting, the teams can show their strong will, interaction and ability to solve problems.
There will be a real-world case for each team to play and another team has to solve. Time for thinking and giving solution is 3 minutes.
The maximum total score is 70 points which is 40 points for giving solution and 30 points for their acting.
***Extra part for audience (expected time: 5 minutes)
There are 4 questions for audience and if their answer is right, they will receive gifts from the organizer and/or sponsors.
4. Part 4: “Persuading the recruiter” (expected time: 5 minutes)
The 3 teams will be taken to the office of Ernst & Young Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City to take a test on excel solution to accounting, financial and taxation situations. The maximum score that a team can earn is 50 point.
5. Part 5: “I’m a chief accountant” (expected time: 40 minutes)
Every member of each team will take a face-to-face interview in 3 minutes, the maximum score is 30 points. 3 contestants who have the highest score will go to the widen part. After this part, the representative of E&Y will also award 3 internship position at E&Y to 3 best candidates.
Depend on total score through 5 parts, MC will announce the first, second and third rank.
6. Part 6: “Shining talent” (expected time: 10 minutes)
Goal: Give competitors the opportunity to show their talent, by the way, help E&Y find out the most talented applicant for its future recruitment.
Top 3 will have an English interview which will test them about professional knowledge and practical situations to compete for the first rank.
